We had a 4 days long holiday here in Budapest because of 20th of August which is our 'Foundation of the State' celebration like 4th of July in the U.S. If you visit Budapest around this date don't forget to check the fireworks at 9 pm on the bank of Danube, it's quite spectacular.
So back to our holiday and free time and a small break out of the city into the surrounding hills more specifically to Hűvösvölgy and the Children's railway.
The line is a narrow gauge railway line in Budapest which is operated by kids aged 10-14 under adult supervision. They are working on every position except the train driver.
By the way with its 11,2 km the line of Budapest is the longest children operated railway. The services was started in the late 1940's and it was called Pioneer Railway in the communist era.
It has 7 stops in the hills and follows the iron roads along a nice path in the woods.
